Tim White studies the effects of fishing and marine protected areas on
open-ocean fish species. Using electronic tagging and remote sensing,
he tracks the movement patterns of reef sharks, white sharks, and fishing
vessels in order to inform effective management strategies. Before coming
to Hopkins Marine Station, he worked as a fisheries observer aboard Bering
Sea crab vessels and a research diver for the National Park Service.
